Design Decision/Approach: I created this artifact to showcase the different types of Educational Technology available. I was very interested in assistive technology and this assignment prompted me to further explore assistive technology's place in Educational Technology. By learning more about all the available technologies shows me the type of learning material I can create based on what technology I would like to use as the medium. I believe this will help me in the future to identify how I can create training material to cater to my learners unique characteristics. This will also help me mentor and coach others who may need assistance in designing training using assistive technology for their learners but it would also help me as an Instructional Designer to plan, design, create and evaluate future professional development in my workplace where I may need to design with assistive technology in mind.
AECT STANDARDS APPLIED: AECT Standard 1 - Content Knowledge, 5 - Research
- This artifact addressed AECT Standard 1 - Content Knowledge. Due to the creation of the mind map to show the continuum of Educational Technology and ranging it high to low technology. Knowledge of Educational Technology, the ranges of Educational Technology, and the use of resources was required in order to complete this assignment.
- This artifact also addressed AECT Standard 5 - Research. This product required that I research the different types of Educational Technology to arrange it in the order of high to low technology. The research also assisted me in identifying assistive technology that is available and what it ranks on high and low technology.
